The Heroic Romances of Ireland contains a few tales from the most literary period of Ireland's history. Each story is summarized and the history of its version is discussed at moderate length. Certain parts of certain stories are also included from multiple sources, to help deepen the experience.As with all old writing, the style is on the dry and slow side. It's also occasionally lacking in clear descriptions, leaving the modern reader scratching their head and wondering if they'd slept through something important (again). The summaries and discussion which accompanied each story both enhanced this effect and mitigated it, being rather dry itself.
If you enjoy old literature, then this is definitely something to check out. This version contains both Volume 1 and Volume 2. If you'd prefer them separate, that is also available on the Amazon kindle.
The formatting of the kindle edition is decent, although sections written in verse are not formatted in verse, and footnotes are...clunky [FN#1], and appear in the text where the end of the actual paper page would have been.

There were also a few typo-esque scanning errors, but sadly none of them were disruptive enough to be hilarious. And the contents are not accessible in any way save by scrolling, which can be tedious if you are looking to reference things.

I purchased this book for my e-reader. I am very much impressed and "into" the Irish history and culture; therefore I enjoyed the book.
It was not a rapidly moving book but was interesting.
The Heroic Romances of Ireland contains a few tales from the most literary period of Ireland's history. Each story is summarized and the history of its version is discussed at moderate length. Certain parts of certain stories are also included from multiple sources, to help deepen the experience.
