By Howard Littleson
In 1936 Jonah Cook was twelve years old. He lived in a tiny rural Michigan town gripped, as all towns were, by the economic ravages of the Great Depression. He was in every way a typical boy, or at least he thought he was, until the day of his Uncle Jasper’s funeral when he discovered he had a bizarre gift. This gift, or curse as some would later come to refer to it, sent Jonah head long into a hair raising supernatural journey that brought him face to face with his greatest fears and released unintentional consequences that forced him to fight for his freedom, to prove that he wasn’t schizophrenic, and to protect the lives of those he loved the most.
In this, the third novel by author Howard Littleson, the richly textured details of the 1930’s come alive as Littleson takes readers on a riveting journey which starts with a small town graveyard and the secrets buried beneath its granite markers. The journey continues through the stately halls of a well-intentioned asylum of the day where murky diagnoses and crude courses of treatment force Jonah to question everything including his own sanity. Finally, the journey takes the reader back to the tiny town of Davisburg where Jonah struggles to live a normal life, find purpose and meaning for his controversial gift and put away, once and for all, the demons that haunt him.
One thing is for sure. . . you’ll never enter a graveyard again without thinking of Jonah the Seer!
The story of Jonah The Seer will grip you, put you on the edge of your seat, make you hold your breath, pull at your heartstrings, and remember what it was like to come of age. After reading this story you will be naturally drawn into the decade’s long debate on whether the bizarre details of Jonah’s remarkable life are proof of an unexplainable supernatural gift or the impossible claims from a fractured mind plagued by lunacy driven visions.
Jonah The Seer The Seer Series Book 1 eBook Howard Littleson
I came across Howard Littleson's "One Mississippi" on what I'd call a fluke. It was offered through one of those "great deal, and free book" deals. Loved it so much I immediately followed it up with "Two Mississippi". I have anxiously been waiting for "Three Mississippi", so when I saw "Jonah The Seer", I jumped on it. The funny thing is, I typically do not go for books that have paranormal happenings. I was so impressed with One and Two Mississippi and Mr. Littleson's style of writing, I thought, "OK, let's give it a try". And I am so glad I did. Due to the fact that it deals with strange paranormal activity I found myself with a perplexed "look on my face" several times throughout the story. This fact alone should tell you that the book grips you and physically draws you in. OK, Mr. Littleson... I am ready for THREE MISSISSIPPI!! :o)Product details

Jonah The Seer The Seer Series Book 1 eBook Howard Littleson Reviews
Howard Littleson hit it out of the park with this one. As with his other books, the events are unexpected and unusual, to say the least. The story line kept me interested in the book from beginning to end. If you like a story that will keep you interested, this is the book for you. Thanks again, Howard! Now, I hope you are writing "Three Mississippi"!
I truly enjoyed this book! The author's writing style was a pleasure to read with plenty of descriptive passages that made me feel as if I were right there with Jonah and kept me captivated throughout the whole book. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. Thank you for an enjoyable read!
Excellent book. I got this for free on . The preview and the reviews sounded promising, so I got it and finally got around to reading it. On the Plus side, the writing was excellent. The story drew me in and sometimes I even had to take a break to breathe because the story was so intense! This is a good thing! I enjoyed the narrative and the the dialog was not stilted as it sometimes is with these "indies." I applaud that the author didn't resort to the foul language tactic that is often used as a substitute for good writing. Kudos!
On the minus side, I did have a few minor issues that detracted from the story.
1. Could have used a good proofreader. There were several punctuation/spelling/grammar errors that should have been caught.
2. Please don't use the word "Prolly." Seriously. The word is "probably." I hate that texting language has infiltrated into literature. It detracts from the story to write that way (I don't care how you think the characters pronounce things), and it makes the author look like an idiot.
3. There were two sex scenes that were not totally explicit, but were totally unnecessary to the plot.
4. Wasn't too crazy about the ending, but that's a matter of personal taste.
I first read One Mississippi by Howard Littleson (which I enjoyed very much) and I picked up Jonah the Seer at the same time.
Just finished reading Jonah the Seer and I am in awe!!!
This is one of the best books I have ever read.
Loved the story- the characters - all the 'what if's'. A deep thought provoking book.
I can hardly wait to read the next book in the 'Seer' series.
Two thumbs WAY UP to Howard Littleson. Truly a great writer.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I had chills at different points in this story. I loved Jonah. It came to me at a time when my interest in "people who can communicate with the dead" has been heavy on my mind. The ending would have had me believing schizophrenia but the incident in the hallway with Robert gave me a huge verification. (not trying to spoil anything). If you love mysteries, this is the book for you!
A good story. I'm not a professional editor or book reviewer, but I do like a good story and this was one. I only gave it four stars because of two reasons (1) Some spelling errors, but not many. There were not enough of these errors to 'disturb' the story but they were there and I 'stumbled' over them. More editing?
(2) The use of vernacular; for example, the use of 'prolly' instead of 'probably.' That annoyed me. Some of us may speak in that manner, but most of us don't, so please keep to the proper use of language instead of vernacular. It seems somehow inappropriate.
Other than the above two issues, it was a great story and kept me fascinated, waiting to see what happened next. Sometimes I get into a 'reading funk,' where I can't and don't want to read, but this caught me up and kept me into the story. I recommend this book highly.
The reader is introduced to Jonah, a pre-pubescent lad, experiencing the confusing emotional and social traumas every young man faces. Add to the mix his new-found gift/curse of being able to see and speak with the dead ... as well as demons who torment the living.
The author convincingly weaves the story in such a way that is sensitive to Jonah's plight as a boy who desperately desires to experience "normal" maturation, but who retains a deeply rooted obligation to assist others utilizing his abilities as a Seer. His losses, his sacrifices, his infrequent joys might lead one to categorize this as a story steeped in despair, but his triumphs left me with an unquenchable feeling of hope as I turned the final page.
The supporting characters were strong and each assisted in the growth of the main character. I was impressed with the author's successful efforts in generating an interwoven combination of characters and plot too rarely enjoyed in literature.
I will be pondering this story for days to come --- and isn't that the highest praise that can be afforded? Five stars is definitely not an overrated review.
